Apuan Ethnologic Museum

It preserves the traditions of Massa-Carrara popular culture

The Apuan Ethnologic Museum is located in a building near the Santuario della Madonna degli Uliveti in Massa. It was founded in 1980 on initiative of the priest Luigi Bonacoscia and the Association "Movimento di Umanesimo Sociale per la nobiltà del lavoro umano" in order to preserve and hand down the acknowledge to the future generations of the objects linked to the popular culture of the coast.

It is divided into 36 sections relative to the following themes: plaster cast, religion, ceramics, weaving, education, typography, shoe making, first aid, laundry, haymaking, land working, threshing, olive culture, chestnut processing, wine-making, cooking and so on.
